"South Austin Location: I am an out-of-towner but a former Austinite...1 of the 3 items I ordered to-go were included. When I called to inquire I was offered a full refund because I didn't plan to return to Austin for a while. I got a more-than-polite response and a refund of the full amount I paid for the mistake. What I did get was a spider roll, which was delicious, tender, fresh, and stayed together when I bit into it. I was also looking forward to the rainbow roll and seaweed salad that I ordered, but those were not included in the to-go bag. Perhaps this is better in-house instead of ordering out?
Thanks... for the refund and the delicious spider roll. Still hungry though!

"A few days ago I took a sushi class with DK- it was great! His claim to have you making perfect rolls by the end of two hours is absolutely true! And his class is absolutely unparalleled in Austin!
It's fun!- You've heard it before and I won't be the last to say it- DK is a riot! I was nervous about taking a class by myself but his easy-going attitude and poking fun put me right at ease. He is a joy to work with!
It's effective!- This is nothing like the other sushi "classes" in Austin that are more like lectures. No paperwork, no note-taking- ALL hands on! You see his hands from where you are sitting, and also on the TV in front of you via the overhead cam so you can get the first person angle, and when it's necessary he'll just come stand right next to you to show you how it's done. Always throwing little bits of advice out there in brief, memorable wording, and always explaining more if I was unsure. I rarely even needed to ask a question- he always seemed to know if I was unsure about anything. Every step of the way he would check my work, and when done with a roll he would point out the differences between mine and his, and explain exactly how it had happened and how to do it differently the next time. Or, if praise was in order, he was not stingy with that, either! :)
It's thorough!- We made 4 different rolls in the two hours, including a hand roll. He went over the way to cook rice, and explained not only his own personal preference but the preferences of other sushi chefs as well. None of the sauces were pre-made- he makes them right in front of you and shows you exactly how to do it, from what ingredients are best to what order to mix them in to exactly what mixing technique to use. Again, it's very hands on- he had me taste or feel most of the ingredients before using them in a roll or sauce to know first hand the freshness, ripeness, texture, color or aroma each particular ingredient should be. He also shows you how to hold the sushi knife and perfect cutting technique, multiple ways for cutting fish and dicing ingredients, including the wrong techniques so you know what beginner's mistakes to avoid.
And most of all...
It's affordable!- It's $65 for 2 hours; you don't need to bring anything with you (just make sure you wear closed-toed shoes), and not only does that include his instruction, but you get to eat or take home everything you make. For me, that was 5 or 6 rolls of my own, plus a roll or two that DK made. It's easy to spend that much or more on that many rolls just for dinner, let alone get a two-hour class for the same price. It just can't be beat.
It's Christmas time, so I'm just waiting to get some sushi-related gifts (that I know I'll be getting after all my gushing about the class) so I can practice myself at home. Then as soon as I've polished my technique I'm going to take the next class, and I really can't wait! "

"DK and his family are so welcoming and I have just experienced the new taste of the best sushi in town! I have never experienced such flavor, freshness and texture of sushi before. Being half korean I have eaten at many different resturants and tried many different Korean dishes, and by far DK Sushi has the BEST Beef Bulgogi in town, hands down!!!!!! Keep up the Great work DK!"
